Tour de France 2023 Dialogue Stage 9 -spoilers. Profile end

Stage 9 is a hilly 109-mile course, with a difficult 10-mile HC climb up Puy de Dome to the mountain high end. The curlique end seems cool on the map however doesn’t add a lot to the viewing pleasure.

Up till that climb, the course shouldn’t be notably difficult. Sprinter factors are very early, at about 20 miles. There’s probably not sufficient problem within the course to help a threatening breakaway.

Following two mountain levels, there will likely be substantial time gaps, and non-threatening breakaways could also be allowed to outlive unchallenged. It may be useful to have a teammmate in one in every of these breakaways up the street, in case you have plans to achieve time over GC rivals on that closing climb.

Riders have a relaxation day after this. GC contenders will merely need to be checking one another all day to the foot of this climb. Due to all this, common speeds could also be fairly excessive.
